Client Ask

Launch a full e-commerce and membership platform to support a book release, subscriptions, and affiliate partnerships.

My role

Product Designer and Developer.

End-to-end ownership across strategy, accessibility, IA, design, Shopify development, and launch.

What I delivered

A custom Shopify platform with dual user paths (public + gated members), tiered subscriptions, affiliate integrations, and WCAG-compliant accessibility.

Outcomes

Launched December 16, 2025.

Platform supports recurring revenue, private educational content, and partner monetization in the clean food space.

Before Diving into Details

Before designing anything, I audited the existing site to assess feasibility, accessibility, and structural gaps.

Some of what I found:

  • Low contrast on navigation text
  • Broken responsiveness on mobile
  • Keyboard navigation that skipped critical content

I documented everything and used it to inform the rebuild. Before creating anything new, I wanted to understand her vision clearly. The audit gave us a shared starting point and made space for the real creative work to begin.

Brand Discovery

After reviewing the audit, we both moved on to starting the website from scratch focusing on translating what "mycotoxin-free is the new gluten-free" actually means for her audience and how to communicate it clearly.

Membership Architecture

The site needed to support two user paths: Public access and a Gated member hub.

I built a dual-path authentication system that supported: subscription plans, gated content access, tags per user based subscription tier and SEO noindex/noarchive walls to keep content private.

I went a little extra...

DNS Troubleshooting

Shopify's restrictive DNS setup blocks inbound email by default. I reverse-engineered the configuration to enable Google Workspace email reception without migrating domain ownership, bypassing Shopify's forwarding limitations and verifying deliverability through live testing.

Beyond the site, I designed a full marketing kit: logo, business cards, social media templates, and brand mockups.
