Aviator Lounge

Peer-to-peer scheduling app for FedEx pilots

Solving for: cargo and commercial pilots

UX StrategyResearchPrototypingDevelopment

Initial Observations

FedEx pilots lack an internal, pilot-first tool to coordinate schedules, pairings, and communication. Pilots can't easily browse schedules, compare trip pairings, or communicate during rest periods. The company app handles logistics, not connections. So pilots rely on workarounds: group texts, scattered spreadsheets, too many apps, and word-of-mouth.

My role

Solo owner across UX, strategy, research, IA, design, and React Native development.

What I'm building

A peer-to-peer scheduling and coordination app that lets pilots find each other faster, compare trips, and complete swaps in 15 minutes.

Status

In active development with FedEx IM and Okta integration. Designed to scale to other careers.

Mapping Solutions

Before designing anything, I analyzed how pilots currently compensate for the absence of official tools. Most of the company's internal tools run both for dispatchers or ops managers, not pilots. The ones that do exist for crew members lack feature parity across platforms: layover info, bidding, and better crew awareness and weather coordination.

User Interviews

I partnered with 5 subject matter experts (aircraft FedEx pilots with Captain and First Officer titles) to stress-test assumptions and surface real pain points. What came out of those sessions shaped the entire product direction: pilots need to find each other fast, share trip context without friction, and access hotel and ground transport info in one place.

Early Sketches

Because bidding and pairing logic is unforgiving, I validated flows in low fidelity before committing to UI or code.

Where it's going

This isn't a concept. I'm actively developing Aviator Lounge as a React Native app with FedEx API integration. It's designed to scale beyond FedEx to other carriers eventually.

My proposition and real value add is in the following ROI: Bidding to be completed in less than 15 minutes.
